Grave decorations including flowers, pots, vases, pictures, plaques, greens, etc., must lay on or be affixed to the monument to facilitate mowing. Anything that inhibits mowing will be removed. Plantings on graves or around headstones is prohibited.
Spring clean-up occurs after March 15; fall clean-up occurs after October 15.
During spring and fall clean-up, anything resting or sitting directly on the stone or monument will not be removed. Everything on the ground around the grave will be removed.
Decorations placed on graves during Holidays will be remove 7 days after the actual Holiday. Each time decorations are removed, they will be held for 10 working days to be claimed. After that time they will be disposed of.
No items such as shells, rocks, mulch, decorative stone, toys, glassware, wire, or similar items should ever be left on or around a grave. No trees, flowers, shrubs, or plantings of any kind may be planted on or around any grave, lot or elsewhere in the cemetery, except by employees of the Village of South Charleston.
Borders/fencing, and shepherd hooks are not allowed.
We discourage visitors from putting anything of sentimental and expensive value on the gravesite due to vandalism or theft.
The Village of South Charleston shall not be responsible for items which may become lost, stolen or damaged.
Cemetery Rules are posted at entrance center and back of cemetery for future reference. All rules are in place for safety, fairness and aesthetics for Greenlawn Cemetery, employees, residents and visitors.
